Homages Continue for Rob and Michele Reiner as Medical Examiner's Findings Face a Security Hold.
More than two weeks subsequent to the heartbreaking passing of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and his wife, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues persist in remembering the pair.
‘Life is Pain Without You’: Cary Elwes Remembers His Director
Posting on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, explained he only now felt ready to post publicly about his deep grief.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can at last put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, saying that his introductory moment with Reiner created an instant bond. "Once we started passing more hours together I realized this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor shared archival material from the movie, adding that he could not remember "one day without mirth".
"The movie is about affection, allegiance and giving. Values that Rob cherished deeply. That is part of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes expressed.
He went on to praise Michele Reiner, stating: "Claiming that they were a formidable pair would be an oversimplification. My heart still aches every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Indeed, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
Martin Scorsese Remembers a Friend and Collaborator
In a distinct piece, acclaimed director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"From the start, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was very funny and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would command the room," Scorsese said.
Scorsese mentioned Reiner's acting part in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, playing the father of the lead role.
"His improvisation skills with the best. He was a expert at comedy, he worked beautifully with his co-stars, and he grasped the emotional dilemma of his character," Scorsese noted.
Legal Developments: Autopsy Reports Restricted
Recently, a Los Angeles superior court judge decided to prevent the release of the Reiners' post-mortem findings, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order put a restriction on the investigation to restrict the public release of "all case details, evidence and photographs" pertaining to the ongoing investigation.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "injuries from a sharp object".
Response and Criticism
Following the deaths, public figures shared different reactions.
Ex-President Donald Trump posted on the matter, providing provocative claims that were widely condemned by many public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan added his criticism to the critics last week. Speaking on his podcast, Rogan characterized the remarks as "disappointing" and suggested they demonstrated a troubling absence of compassion.
Rogan ended by suggesting that an adviser could have acted when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
