It has been confirmed that beloved actors Jennifer Lawrence and Josh Hutcherson will reprise their iconic roles in the latest chapter of the Hunger Games film series, titled The Hunger Games: Sunrise on the Reaping. The project is now in the works.

A Major Comeback for the Franchise

Lawrence and Hutcherson are returning as Katniss Everdeen and Peeta Mellark, the characters they made famous. It is believed their appearance will take the form of a flash-forward sequence, given that the original saga concluded with their characters living in peace.

This marks the sixth cinematic outing in the blockbuster Hunger Games franchise.

Exploring the New Story

Sunrise on the Reaping is adapted from a recent book by author Suzanne Collins. It acts as the second prequel film after 2023's The Ballad of Songbirds & Snakes. For this project is Francis Lawrence, who was behind the majority of the previous films in the series.

The film's narrative are set 24 years before the first Hunger Games, centering on a young Haymitch Abernathy. Haymitch, who would later become Katniss's mentor, is featured as a tribute in the brutal 50th Hunger Games.

The cast also includes several notable actors in pivotal roles:

  • Jesse Plemons steps into the role of Plutarch Heavensbee.
  • Ralph Fiennes takes on the part of a younger version of the calculating President Snow.

Current Projects and Release Timeline

Separately, Jennifer Lawrence stars in the film Die My Love. Josh Hutcherson is part of the successful franchise Five Nights at Freddy's 2.

Regarding the production schedule:
