FC Barcelona Ready for Inaugural Game at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
The club confirmed they are set to host at the partially upgraded Camp Nou over the weekend. Athletic Bilbao will visit Athletic Bilbao in the Spanish league 30 months following their departure so building work could begin.
“Returning home was our dream. Finally, it’s happening. We are back at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited with 45,401 fans are permitted inside under the licence granted. After final construction, the Camp Nou is due to hold almost 105,000 spectators, increasing from the former 99,000. Barça announced finished work included an updated entryway for the team plus modern locker rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium earlier this month. The club said approval is being pursued from European football’s governing body to play their next home Champions League game facing Eintracht in December at Camp Nou. They have been hosting matches in the temporary ground.
