Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Allegations Connected to Player Rashee Rice
The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening stating they are aware of claims of abuse made public in social media posts by a ex-partner of player the athlete and had been in contact with the league office.
The team omitted the name of Rice by name in their statement and noted they would have “nothing more to add at this time”.

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete directly, posted a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. Jones stated the individual in question was the father of her children, and it is known she has kids with the football player, whom the team drafted in the 2023 draft.

No official complaints were available in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.
Rice's Prior Legal Issues
The receiver was absent for the first six games of this season due to an league-mandated ban for his involvement in causing a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was given a month of incarceration and five years’ probation after pleading guilty to serious offenses.
Statistically, he concluded the year with 53 receptions for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
