Aircraft Transporting US Defense Secretary Required to Touch Down in UK Because of Fracture in Cockpit Window

A plane carrying the US defense secretary was forced to make an unplanned landing in the Britain on Wednesday following a fracture was found in the jet's front window, according to an official statement which verified that the secretary was unharmed.

"The plane touched down following standard protocol and everyone onboard, among them Secretary Hegseth, is secure," a press officer said in a online announcement.

He was traveling back from a short visit to the city of Brussels during the flight.

This incident is not the first occasion that a United States armed forces jet transporting a senior official has experienced equipment failures.

Months ago, a United States Air Force aircraft transporting the US Secretary of State to Munich was required to turn back to Washington after encountering a mechanical fault.
